Jasper lodging in 2026
Lodging in Jasper is spread over two kinds of places: inside the town and outside the townsite. Before the 2024 wildfire these included hotels, cabins and lodges, and hostels. Parks Canada also runs campgrounds close to town and along the parkway. Rebuilding is still under way, so a place that stood before 2024 may not be open today. Check that any room you want to book is open for your dates.
Before the fire, commercial lodging could host about 6,000 guests per night. So do not count on the same number of rooms in autumn 2026. If you want a plan that does not depend on a room, camping is the alternative, and the Jasper tours can fill your days once you know where you sleep.

Where to stay: town, outside town and camping
What each choice means for your days.
In the town of Jasper
Staying in town puts you close to the station and the local buses, which include a Pyramid Loop. Town parking zones apply from 1 May to 31 October, at CA$7 per hour or CA$28 per day.
The town →Outside the townsite
Lodging outside the townsite is away from the town center. You need a car for most trips, so allow for the drive. Check each place before you book.
Icefields Parkway →Cabins in Jasper, Alberta
Cabins and lodges were part of the offer before the fire, and some are being rebuilt. Do not assume a particular one is open. The oTENTik units at Parks Canada campgrounds are camping units, not private cabins.
Camping
Parks Canada campgrounds work well if rooms are short. Several are seasonal, and some are closed in 2026. Reserve ahead for the summer.
Parks Canada campgrounds in 2026
Dates and sites for the season. Reservations cost extra.
| Campground | 2026 dates | Sites |
|---|---|---|
| Whistlers | 6 May to 12 October | 781, reservable |
| oTENTik units | Loop 4 from 3 June, loop 5 from 17 June, both to 21 September | 17 units |
| Wapiti, summer | 13 May to 28 October | 150, reservable |
| Wapiti, winter | From 28 October to May 2027 | 40, first come, first served |
| Miette Campground | 13 May to 14 September | 140, reservable |
| Wabasso and Whirlpool | Closed in 2026 | – |
Parts of Wapiti are closed too. Whistlers closes for the season on 12 October, which is its normal end date and not a new closure. For most visitors who camp, Whistlers is the first choice for summer and Wapiti in the cold months.
Camping fees per night
- Unserviced site with showers, no fire pit: CA$34. With a fire pit: CA$47.75.
- Site with electricity, no fire pit: CA$40. Full hookup, no fire pit: CA$47.25.
- oTENTik unit: CA$147.50.
- Reservation: CA$11.50 online or CA$13.50 by phone, on top of the fee.
The national park pass does not replace the site fee or the reservation fee. Backcountry camping needs a permit and costs CA$15 per person per night, plus the same reservation fees.
The state of rebuilding
Figures as of autumn 2026.
| Stage | Lots |
|---|---|
| Ready to occupy | 73 |
| Under construction | 98 |
| Building permit issued | 50 |
| Application in progress | 46 |
| No application yet | 107 |
That makes 374 lots in all. A lot that is ready to occupy is not automatically a hotel, so do not read the numbers as rooms. About 806 housing units were lost in 2024. See the history page for the wildfire.
